Women in Tech Employer Awards open for nominations

The annual Women in Tech Employer Awards has opened for nominations, inviting businesses to put themselves forward in six categories that celebrate how businesses are trying to tip the balance in technology recruitment.

Those available for nominations include Female Tech Employer of the Year, Female Graduate Employer of the Year, Women in Tech Network of the Year, Recruitment Campaign of the Year, Public Sector Female Tech Employer of the Year and Recruitment Agency of the Year.

Businesses wishing to nominate themselves will need to prove they are pushing the boundaries to close the gender gap in the UK’s IT and technology sector by recruiting more females and encouraging those who wouldn’t normally consider a career in STEM subjects to apply for roles.

“We’re incredibly excited to launch the Women in Tech Employers Awards this year,” Charlotte Attwood, head of Women in Tech said. “While there is still a long way to go to close the gender gap in the UK technology sector, there are a number of companies who are leading the way in encouraging women to enter the industry.”

Women in Tech not only wants to show the industry that women are more than capable of working in the tech sector, but by recruiting more females into such roles, businesses can fill skills gaps in their organisation.

“This work is essential to ensure that the UK does not lag behind its competitors in the tech sector. We are proud to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary and much-needed work that these companies are doing with the Women in Tech Employers Awards.”

The awards will be judged by Debbie Forster, CEO of Tech Talent Charter and Attwood, with more judges due to be announced in the coming weeks.
